While everyone's getting ready, walk down the road in Romita (overlooking a picturesque view of Tuscany), to the local shop (that sells everything from wine to post cards) meet the shopkeeper and order up your 4 espressos (take away) and whatever the fresh pastry is of the morning. Hear the local gossip (if you speak Italian while you wait) then collect your coffees (in jars) and walk back. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries and coffees at your alfresco table.

Hit the road – head south (directions attached) to Montepulciano – enjoy the countryside and hilly roller coaster ride- until you hit the raised castle town. If you want to really enjoy the town, park in the lowest parking garage and walk the switch back roads up to the town center, Piazza Grande. Visit the palaces, the towns Duomo and the Palazzo Comunale. Make sure to visit one of the many leather shops. Grab a table outside at Il Cantuccio and sample the famed Vino Nobile with just about anything with truffles. Amble down the streets, with a gelato, to the car for your first private wine appointment.

Avignonesi – Reservations and directions attached – The Falvo brothers began this wine house in the 18th century. Their beautiful cellars, vineyards and wines have become a staple of Monetpulciano. Enjoy your private tasting and tour!

Take the "wine route" to Montalcino, the land of Brunello.

Wine appointment at Banfi (private tour and tasting). Visit the Fortress and stand outside the Monastery to hear the chanting from the monks.

Head back to Romita. Park at the villa and take a sunset swim while enjoying a bottle of Prosecco. Walk down the Strata De Romita to Osteria La Fattoria for an amazing local meal. We recommend the antipasto bar (7 Euros pp), gorgonzola ravioli (primo plate) and the suckling pig (secondo), for the dolce the crème brulee is wonderful. Their house wines are inexpensive and perfect along with their house grappa.
